Warwick 'Fight For Rowan' Light Parade To Honor Child With Cancer

Rowan Shaw, 2, is battling a rare form of cancer and is undergoing treatment.

WARWICK, RI — The Warwick Police Department has organized a “Fight For Rowan Light Parade” to support 2-year-old Rowan Shaw, a local boy who is who is battling cancer.

The parade kicks off tonight (Monday, March 8) at 6 p.m. from Bishop Hendricksen High School, and first responders from across Rhode Island and Massachusetts have been invited to attend. The parade, featuring vintage police and fire trucks, will make its way down Warwick Avenue toward Doris Avenue.

“This promises to be a very special night for Rowan and his family as the city once again is showing him he’s not alone in his battle with cancer. I’m very proud of Warwick’s finest," said Warwick Mayor Frank Picozzi.

Rowan was diagnosed with high-risk metastatic neuroblastoma back in December, WPRI reports. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family with their expenses.

The police department has asked that for safety reasons, participants in the parade be limited to first responder vehicles only. However, all are invited to watch and to support the family.
