Warwick Man Busted After Nazi Stickers Found In Bristol

A Warwick man was arrested on Thursday following an investigation into Nazi stickers found affixed to public property in Bristol.

Chase Gilroy, 26, was arraigned on one count of vandalism and one count of conspiracy to commit vandalism. He was released on personal recognizance, the Providence Journal reports.

The Bristol Police launched their investigation April 24 after someone saw a sticker on an outside window of the Rogers Free Library. That person removed the sticker and gave it to police. The same day, someone reported seeing an identical sticker on a mailbox outside the U.S. Post Office. Police found more stickers on signs around Independence Park, according to a news release from Bristol Police Chief Kevin M. Lynch.

Surveillance Video Still, Bristol Police Department

Police say some of the stickers depicted Adolf Hitler and had the words "White Boy Summer." In response, the community held a peace vigil.

On April 27, detectives sent their collection of stickers to the the Rhode Island State Crime Laboratory. The lab later told police they found latent fingerprint impressions on the stickers. Police ran a match and determined that the fingerprints were Gilroy's. Gilroy subsequently turned himself in.

Bristol Police are still seeking a second suspect seen in security video footage.

Lynch commended Lt. Julie Veader for leading the investigation.
