Fire Rips Through Westerly Apartment Building

The fire on Pearl Street broke out late Monday night.

WESTERLY, RI — Fire ripped through a multi-family home at 34 Pearl Street late Monday night.

The fire broke out around 11 p.m. with heavy flames reported at a two-and-a-half story structure. Mutual aid responded from Pawcatuck.

Westerly Fire Chief John Mackay was at the scene this morning along with the State Fire Marshal, according to a staffer at the chief's office. So far no word on injuries or cause. Heavy damage was reported. The fire is under investigation.
