Westerly Police Seize 55 Grams of Cocaine In Traffic Stop
Police arrested Katherine McGrath and Joseph McDonagh and say they found cocaine, Xanax, Oxycodone, marijuana, and brass knuckles.

WESTERLY, RI — A daytime traffic stop by Westerly Police led to a double arrest and the seizure of more than 50 grams of cocaine.
Joseph McDonagh, 21, and Katherine McGrath, 29, were taken into custody shortly after noon Sunday. Westerly police say they clocked McGrath traveling 47 mph in a 25 mph zone along Canal Street. An officer who stopped the car said he detected a strong scent of marijuana. McGrath told officers that she, McDonagh and two passengers were returning home to Massachusetts after spending the weekend in North Stonington for a pre-wedding celebration. McGrath told police they left the celebration after she had a dispute with her fiancee, The Westerly Sun reports.
Police say McGrath consented to a search, which led to the discovery of 48.5 grams of cocaine, 9 Xanax pills and 6.3 grams of marijuana on McDonagh, and 7.3 grams of cocaine, 10 Oxycodone pills and 2.6 grams of marijuana on McGrath, according to The Sun.
