RIDEM Hearing On Medical Waste Plant In West Warwick: How To Join

The March 15 hearing on the Medrecycler-RI pyrolysis plant can be accessed via Zoom or telephone. Comments may also be mailed to RIDEM.

WEST WARWICK — The Rhode Island Dept. of Environmental Management will host a virtual public hearing March 15 on its draft medical waste license for the Medrecycler-RI Inc. Medical Waste Treatment Facility planned at 1600 Division Road in West Warwick. The proponents plan to use the process of pyrolysis to turn medical waste into energy.

To submit on-the-record comment during the hearing, participants should signal their interest by typing their name and title in the Zoom chat box. People who join by phone will not have access to the chat box and will be asked for comment at the end of the hearing, a media release from RIDEM states.

Each commenter will be allowed five minutes to speak. All are encouraged to also submit their comments in writing for clarity and completeness. Parties are invited to submit written comments to DEM via email to Yan Li at yan.li@dem.ri.gov or Mark Dennen at mark.dennen@dem.ri.gov.
