2. Help a community out! The Youth Initiative Project (YIP) is a core aspect of NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley’s youth programming. The Project encourages Woonsocket high school students to be engaged in their communities and develop leadership skills through student-led service projects. YIP participants plan and implement projects of their own design to benefit the community, as well as mentor younger students in their neighborhoods.

YIP will hold a fundraiser carwash on Saturday, June 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church at 1409 Park Ave. in Woonsocket. All proceeds of the carwash will benefit YIP’s service-learning projects over the upcoming months. Past projects have included food, basic needs items, and clothing collections for the homeless and clean ups. For a full list of past projects, visit http://neighborworksbrv.org.Â
