72-Year-Old Woman Dies Following Serious Crash In Woonsocket

Police say Irene Gaulin and her husband Louis Gaulin were traveling south on Harris Avenue when they crossed into the northbound lane.

WOONSOCKET, RI — A 72-year-old woman has died following a serious crash in Woonsocket Friday afternoon, reported NBC 10 WJAR.

Police say Irene Gaulin died from her injuries after the vehicle she was riding incrossed into the opposite lane and hit a Ford F-350 truck head-on.

The driver of the vehicle, 75-year-old Louis Gaulin, was hospitalized with serious injuries and is currently listed as stable.

According to Deputy Chief Michal Lemoine, the couple was traveling south on Harris Avenue at approximately 4 p.m. when they crossed into the northbound lane. The reason is unclear and no arrests have been made.

The crash remains under investigation.
