The menorah lighting is set for 5:30 p.m. in Harris Hall inside City Hall.

WOONSOCKET, RI—On Thursday, Dec. 29, City officials and Rabbi Aryeh Laufer, of Chabad House of Northern R.I.,will host a Menorah Lighting ceremony in historic Harris Hall in recognition of Chanukah.
The ceremony is open to the public and all are welcome. Thursday’s ceremony falls on the sixth night of the 8-day Jewish holiday, which is observed around the world.
“Woonsocket is blessed with having an inclusive community made up of individuals from many different backgrounds and beliefs,” said Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt. “Thursday’s Menorah Lighting is noteworthy because it marks the first time we have hosted this event at City Hall. The ceremony also represents our appreciation of the Jewish members of our community and a broader appreciation of diversity within our City.”
