Fugitive From Louisiana Captured In Woonsocket

Rhode Island State Police, U.S. Marshals and Woonsocket police arrested a man wanted for attempted murder.

WOONSOCKET, RI—Police and U.S. Marshals converged on a Woonsocket apartment Friday and arrested a fugitive wanted in Louisiana for attempted murder, kidnapping and armed robbery. James A. Santos, 37, of Shreveport, was arrested around 10:30 a.m. He was charged as a fugitive from justice, state police said. Santos waived extradition and is being held without bail pending his return to Louisiana.

According to the press release, Santos on July 20 allegedly chased and fired on a robbery victim. The victim had escaped from two suspects who tied him up. One of the five bullets Santos fired hit the victim in the head "but did not penetrate his skull," police said.
