Local woman advocating for skate park gets shut down by city
Local womans advocating falls on deaf ears

Susan Kirwan who owns Craft Skate & BMX Shop has been a community leader for Almost 6 years helping kids do what they do best, play. She is an advocate for a safe and fun place for kids to skateboard, roller blade, and ride their bikes. Although the bike path is close to the shop, she believes the kids who skateboard should have a park to do so. Skate Parks are a growing phenomenon in Rhode Island with several in surrounding cities. Susan firmly believes the children of the city of Woonsocket would benefit from such a park. With the building of a new Playground at Globe Park and the new basketball courts at the High School, there seems to be many other projects underway. While trying to contact City Hall Susan was meet with the threat of police retaliation and told she was an embarrassment by Councilman Beauchamp. Will this skate park be built for the city? We will never know. When trying to get a comment from City Hall we were meet with no Answer. This is Elizabeth Sifuentes reporting live from Woonsocket, RI.
