Man Accused Of Leading Police On Chase, Crashing In Woonsocket

Police say 36-year-old Michael Santos is facing charges including reckless driving and driving on a suspended license.

WOONSOCKET, RI — A 36-year-old man is accused of leading police on a chase that resulted in a crash in Woonsocket Friday night, reported WPRI.

Police say Michael Santos is facing charges including reckless driving and driving on a suspended license.

The chase began shortly after 11 p.m. when a Woonsocket police officer saw Santos' car speeding through a stop sign on Harris Avenue, according to Chief Thomas Oates. The officer tried to pull over the car, but Santos allegedly sped off, leading to the pursuit.

During the chase, Santos rolled his vehicle over while trying to turn onto Blackstone Street, said Oates. He was extricated from the car and taken to a hospital, where he was later released and charged by police.
