Woonsocket Man Arraigned on Murder Charges

The man is accused of murdering his girlfriend in their home.

Alvin Huggins, 31, is accused of stabbing his girlfriend, Yanira Flores, to death in may at their apartment they sheared together on Willow St.

The accused has been indicted and will be in court on Wednesday for arraignment.

Police say the couple’s two young children were in the home at the time of the incident but were not there when officers arrived. Flores died of her injuries at Landmark Medical Center and Huggins was found in Dorchester the next day.

Huggins has a violent criminal history, according to police, including an 18-month stint in prison for slashing a man with a knife from his left ear to under his jawline, as well as four different parole violations.

Flores had given a witness statement regarding the slashing, saying she believed Huggins used a pocket knife to cut the victims face.
