1. Gov. Dan McKee has signed the 2022 state budget. The $13.1 billion budget received final approval by the General Assembly last week. (Patch)

2. A 79-year-old man has died from his injuries sustained in a three-alarm house fire that broke out in North Smithfield Thursday morning. Fire officials from multiple communities responded to the home on Old Pound Hill Road around 4 a.m. and found the home fully engulfed in flames. (Patch)

3. A drive-through vaccine clinic is opening this Saturday at the Wickford Junction train station parking garage on Ten Rod Road. The clinic will be held weekly from 9 a.m. to noon and is open to anyone age 12 and older. (Patch)

4. Over 8.4 million pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat Tyson chicken products were recalled due to possible listeria contamination, including some sold in Rhode Island. To date, three illnesses and one death were connected with the contaminated products. (Patch)

5. Middletown's Potter League will be one of over 180 shelters in 40 states taking part in the national "Empty the Shelters" event. From July 9 to 11, all cats and dogs at the Potter League will be available for adoption for just $25 in fees. (Patch)
