New Greek/Italian Eatery Heading To Woonsocket
The mayor's office announced Thursday a new restaurant is coming to the city at 2 South Main St., where Vintage used to be.

WOONSOCKET, RI — The mayor's office announced Thursday a new restaurant is coming to the city and will take over the space at 2 South Main St., where Vintage used to be. The new eatery is described as a "casual dining Italian and Greek restaurant and bar." It's expected to open in 2019, and the name hasn't been decided yet. (One possibility is Sweet Basil.)
Woonsocket Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt said in a press release, "I am absolutely elated. The property is one of the main anchors of Market Square. It's a piece of the puzzle of a long-ago, darkened Main street like many other Main Streets across America where they have struggled with difficult times. The revival of the Vintage site is a testament of the vast progress and increased interest within the City of Woonsocket."
The property was bought by Nicholas Markopoulos, and the restaurant will be run by Angelo Petropulos and his company, Petros, LLC. It's primarily an Italian restaurant "which will periodically feature Greek food specialties," the mayor's office said.
