Obituary: Virginia E. Marks, 94, Worked for Providence Schools

​Virginia E. Marks, 94, of Harris Avenue, Johnston, died Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Briarcliffe Manor in Johnston.

Virginia E. Marks, 94, of Harris Avenue, Johnston, died Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Briarcliffe Manor in Johnston. She was the widow of Charles R. Marks.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Lillian (Burke) Ashton. She had most recently lived in Johnston with her daughter, Virginia and had previously lived in Providence.

She was an employee of the Providence School Department for 15 years before retiring.

She is survived by her children: Frank H. Marks of Glocester, Virginia B. Cardone of Johnston, Mary G. Cimaglia of Glocester, her twelve grandchildren, many great and great great grandchildren and her siblings: Harry Ashton of Providence, Charles Ashton of Providence and James Ashton of North Providence, Barbara McKenzie of Barrington and Robert Preston of New York. She was the mother of the late Robert C. Marks and sister of the late Violet Winn, Minnie Noreiko and Edith Pomaranski.

Her funeral service will be held Monday at 11:30am in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial will be in Acote’s Hill Cemetery, Chepachet. Visitation Sunday from 4-7 pm.
