WOONSOCKET, RI — Several acres of land were burned in a Woonsocket brush fire Saturday afternoon, reported ABC6.

Firefighters were called to Morin Street at approximately 3:45 p.m. after the fire started in a large wooded area behind some homes and spread behind a home on Dunlap Street.

According to officials, between five and 10 acres were burned. Although strong wind conditions made it difficult to knock down the flames, the fire was extinguished before it spread to the homes.
