Southeast Asian Water Festival Coming to Woonsocket
First-ever in the City festival scheduled for July 15, the mayor's office said.

WOONSOCKET, RI—A Water Festival is coming to Cold Spring Park in July, the mayor's office said.
"Water festivals are a traditional fixture of Southeast Asian culture and are held worldwide in celebration of the region’s culture," the city said. "Woonsocket has a vibrant Southeast Asian community, which has called the City home for decades."
This will be the 6th annual Water Festival but the first time that this festival or festival of its kind will be held in the City. The event’s speaking program will include representatives from the City as well as members of the local Southeast Asian Community.

Plans are being announced on Saturday, Feb. 4 when Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt and members of the Southeast Asians American United of Rhode Island will meet in Harris Hall. Along with members of the local Southeast Asian community, they are expected to make the announcement official.
