State-Run Vaccination Site In Woonsocket Set For 'Soft-Opening'
The vaccination site is expected to distribute 400 vaccine doses Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
WOONSOCKET, RI — The state-run COVID-19 vaccination site in Woonsocket is scheduled for a 'soft-opening' this weekend, said Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt in a news release Thursday.
The vaccination site, located at the former Sears store in the Walnut Hill Plaza at 1500 Diamond Road, is expected to distribute 400 doses of the Pfizer vaccine Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Appointments will be available for booking on the state's website starting Friday at 5 p.m., said the mayor.

With the opening of the newest state-run mass vaccination site, which will be the first in Northern Rhode Island, the POD site at the Monsignor Gadoury School will shut down after all scheduled second doses are administered.
"I am pleased that the State chose Woonsocket as the host City for this important function, said Baldelli-Hunt in a statement. "This State-run site will help ensure that all of our Woonsocket residents as well as those residents in neighboring communities are able to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in a timely manner."

The state-run vaccination site in Woonsocket will administer vaccines by appointment only and follow Rhode Island eligibility requirements. The site will initially be open two days a week starting the week of April 4th and will expand its hours as vaccine supply becomes available.
