Woonsocket To Host First Winter Wonderland At River Island Park

Free Winter Wonderland in Woonsocket will be Saturday afternoon with Santa arriving at 4 and official Christmas tree lightning at 4:30.

WOONSOCKET, RI — Woonsocket will host its first Winter Wonderland Saturday afternoon at River Island Park. The free event from 3 to 8 p.m. will include holiday songs, pony rides, a petting zoo, photo opportunities and a snow globe village. Santa Claus is due for arrival about 4 p.m. with the official tree lighting set for 4:30.

Food will be sold with baked treats from Wright's Dairy Farm, barbecue from Gotta Q BBQ, plus soups and macaroni and cheese from students at the Woonsocket Area Career and Technical Center.

There will also be a Main Street Holiday Stroll and Polar Express from the historic Blackstone Valley Train Depot. The stroll is hosted by the Downtown Woonsocket Collaborative.

Santa will also be available to hear wish lists at his new house at River Island Park on the following dates and times: Dec. 10 from 5 to 7 p.m.; Dec. 14 from 4 to 6 p.m.; Dec. 18 from 5 to 7 p.m.; Dec. 21 from 4 to 6 p.m. and Dec. 23 from 4 to 6 p.m.
