Woonsocket Police Searching For Suspect in Animal Abuse Case

Woonsocket police are looking for the person who severely injured a chihuahua found on Elm St.

WOONSOCKET, RI — Police are asking for the public's help in finding the person who severely injured a chihuahua found on Elm St. on Dec. 28, according to a Woonsocket Police Department Facebook post.

The chihuahua, now named Helen, had serious head trauma consistent with a crime, said police. She was taken to Tufts Veterinary Medical Center and both her eyes had to be removed due to the injuries.

Helen is between six months and one year old and has been adopted by a member of the Tufts staff, said police.
