Woonsocket Receives $25K Grant For Summer Concert Series
Matching funds from the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation will help fund the free River Island Art Park Friday night music shows.

WOONSOCKET, RI – Music will fill the air at River Island Art Park once again this summer with help from a grant from the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation. Woonsocket was one of 20 small cities and towns across the country to receive the $25,000 grant. This is the third year Woonsocket will receive matching funds from the foundation to run its free music series.
The concerts will run from June 12 through Aug. 21 from 6 to 9 p.m. Each night will include two local musical acts, a youth intermission performance curated by G. COLE Productions, a kids’ zone full of activities, a food court, bar and other vendors. The music series is a collaboration between NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley, the city of Woonsocket and Woonsocket Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt’s office. This summer's series will also run with help from the Downtown Woonsocket Collaborative, V!DA Church, Beacon Public Charter School for the Arts, and G. COLE Productions.
"The Levitt Foundation's selection of our fabulous city to serve as a Levitt AMP Music Series host site for the third consecutive year is an exceptional honor," said Woonsocket Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt. "This exciting news presents us all with the marvelous opportunity to once again receive the extraordinary music of Levitt's free 10-week outdoor waterfront concert series. The City of Woonsocket is pleased to partner with NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley in bringing this first-rate event to our great city."
