Woonsocket Woman Killed In Domestic Dispute: Police

Woonsocket police said James Grilli, of Pawtucket, ran over Erika Belcourt with his vehicle in the Walnut Hill Apartments parking lot.

WOONSOCKET, RI — A woman was killed after police said a man ran her over with his vehicle Saturday afternoon in the Walnut Hill Apartments parking lot.

James Grilli, 37, of Pawtucket, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Woonsocket police said Grilli engaged in a heated argument with Erika Belcourt, 40, in her apartment, then intentionally drove his vehicle into her when she attempted to prevent him from driving away from the complex on Diamond Hill Road.

Police said Grilli ran over Belcourt then drove off. Police said they arrived at the parking lot about 5:30 p.m. and found Belcourt suffering from serious injuries. Police said she spoke with officers before being treated and taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where she later died.

Pawtucket police arrested Grilli several hours later. He was charged with first-degree domestic murder, domestic assault with a deadly weapon and domestic breaking and entering.
