Greenville Shooting: DUI Suspect Shot To Death By Deputies
The suspect allegedly rammed a deputy's car before he was forced to stop on the 400 block of Cedar Lane Road.

GREENVILLE, SC — A drunken-driving suspect was shot to death by Greenville County sheriff's deputy after the suspect rammed the deputy's car and pulled a gun, authorities said. Travelers Rest police had been pursuing the drunken-driving suspect around 7 p.m. Sunday and deputies took over as the suspect left the town, Sheriff's Sgt. Ryan Flood said.
The suspect rammed a deputy's car before he was forced to stop on the 400 block of Cedar Lane Road in Greenville, then pulled a gun and pointed it at deputies who were trying to negotiate with him, Flood said. One deputy fired and the man was declared dead at a hospital.
The Greenville News reported authorities forced the suspect to crash into an appliance repair business.

The coroner's office identified the suspect as 27-year-old Jacob McCarty.
The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating. Spokesman Thom Berry said he was told the officer is white, as was the victim.
