Hurricane Dorian In SC: Evacuation Lifted In 3 Counties
Governor Henry McMaster lifted the evacuation orders for all residents in three counties in Southern South Carolina.

ACROSS SOUTH CAROLINA — South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster lifted the evacuation order for all residents in the counties of Beaufort, Jasper, and Colleton. The announcement was made at 3 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 5.
Along with some Palmetto State natives getting to go home, schools and state government offices will also open for regular business hours in these three counties, all of which are located in the southern end of the state.
This does not mean the entirety of South Carolina is in the clear though, as evacuation orders are still in place for Charleston, Dorchester, Berkeley, Georgetown, and Horry, as Hurricane Dorian remains a threat with the storm still progressing.

"Returning residents are encouraged to exercise patience and expect lengthy travel times, blocked roadways, or detours back to evacuated areas and are asked not to drive around barricades or use emergency lanes that are needed for first responders," reads a message from McMaster's office.

All of McMaster's decisions were made in coordination with local officials, and the governor additionally restored the local officials authority over school schedules and government office schedules in Beaufort, Jasper, and Colleton.

Government offices and schools will however remained closed on Friday in cities that are still under evacuation orders.
Life-threatening storm surge and flash-flooding are still possible across portions of South Carolina, according to the National Hurricane Center's 5 p.m. Thursday update.
