Lee County Deputy Beaten In Face, Shoots Suspect: Authorities
The deputy fired because he feared for his life, authorities said.

BISHOPVILLE, SC — A South Carolina deputy shot a suspect who attacked him while responding to a domestic dispute on Sunday, Lee County Sheriff Daniel Simon said. Both the deputy and the suspect are expected to survive.
The deputy suffered injuries to his face and fired because he feared for his life, Simon said. The sheriff did not provide details about where the man was shot and refused to release the men's names or other information about the fight.
The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating the shooting. Spokesman Thom Berry says the deputy is black, and the man shot is white.
