South Carolina Deputy Who Killed Man Feared For Life: Authorities
Deputies couldn't find James Davis at his Lake View home. They returned, and an officer who feared for his life shot Davis, officials said.

DILLON, SC — A deputy in Dillon County shot and killed a man earlier this month because the officer feared for his life, authorities said.
Deputies were searching for James Gerald Davis, 40, on a domestic violence charge July 13 and were unable to find him at his home in Lake View, Dillon County Capt. Cliff Arnette said in a news release Monday night.
After deputies left, they were told Davis threatened to hurt himself, Arnette said, so they returned. An officer who feared for his life then shot Davis, Arnette said.
