30 New Buses Coming to Charleston Metro
The buses are part of nearly 350 purchased by SC to service students across the state.

In the largest school bus purchase in four years, 342 buses will be delivered across South Carolina, replacing some of the older models.
A press release from the state superintendent stated that these will go to students with and without disabilities, though The State reports that the older buses exclusively served those students with disabilities.
The State also reported that some of the replaced buses had more than 500,000 miles on them.

Funds came from lottery revenue, general fund carryforward revenues and revenue from the sale of scrap metal from old buses.
An additional $34 million has been requested from the 2013-2014 budget.
