Boy, 13, Shoots Home Intruders With Mom's Gun: Reports

His mom told him what to do in case of emergency.

A 13-year-old in South Carolina used his mom’s gun to shoot at two would-be burglars, hitting one who later died, according to local media.

The boy was home alone Tuesday afternoon when he saw two men pull up outside of his house in Ladson, South Carolina, WTXF reported.

When he heard someone trying to break into the house, he grabbed his mother’s gun and went to the back of the house, according to WTXF.

Lamar Anthwan Brown was hit in the exchange, and Ira Bennett dropped Brown off at a local hospital before fleeing, according to the Post and Courrier.

Brown died in the hospital later that day.

“I tell my kids that if anything ever happens to call 911, but I also tell them to protect themselves if they have to,” the boy’s mother told the Post and Courrier. “I never would have dreamed that this would have been a part of our day today.”
