Brandon Shell, a 2011 Goose Creek High grad, has been selected for the Southeastern Conference All-Freshman squad. The 14 football head coaches selected the squad, which was announced on Thursday.
Shell, an offensive tackle, was one of three USC freshman on the list, which also includes tight end Jerell Adams and defensive back T.J. Gurley.
Shell started nine games during the season, including the final eight at right tackle. He was also the starting left tackle in the season opener at Vanderbilt.

A Post and Courier feature in the spring noted Shell was looking forward to playing at the SEC.
"We know he’s a heck of an athlete," offensive line coach Shawn Elliott told the paper. "Has huge upside. Now, he’s just got to develop into what we think he’s going to be. I have no idea about how good he could be at this point. He can really blossom into something special, I think."
