Dylann Roof was formally indicted on Tuesday on nine murder charges and three attempted murder charges for the slayings in a Charleston, South Carolina church.
Roof has previously confessed to the murders at the African-American church to police.
Authorities say Roof sat through a prayer meeting at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church before opening fire and killing nine.
