Registration Now Open for Annual Firecracker 5K

From Pineapple Public Relations and Mosaic Clubs & Resorts: The I’On Club is excited to announce the return of the annual Firecracker 5K on July 4, 2017. Race registration is open to the public and available to runners of all ages and expertise. The 5K course begins at the I’On Club and will finish in I’On Square. Awards will be given for the top male and top female times, as well as first, second and third places for each age and gender group. Cost of registration starts at $15. "We are thrilled to welcome families to celebrate with our community, and we are especially honored to be working with Adam Gorlitsky and his outstanding foundation, I Got Legs,” said Emzi Wewers, Director of Membership at I’On Club.

Gorlitsky will be the first paralyzed man in history to walk 1,000,000 steps in road races throughout the country using a robotic exoskeleton. Proceeds from the race will aid I Got Legs in raising $1 for every step Gorlitsky takes. A silent auction benefiting I Got Legs will be held in I’On Square immediately following the race. The race is strictly for runners and walkers, and no bikes will be allowed on the course. The event will be held rain or shine. The race is being held in part thanks to event sponsors Lucey Mortgage Corporation, Sea Fox Boats, Blue Sky Endurance, Nirenblatt Orthodontics, Charleston Roofing and Exteriors, the Inn at I’On, Fratellos Italian Tavern and O’Brion’s Pub and Grille.
