SC Boy Uses Birthday Money To Help Feed Hurricane Dorian Evacuees
Jermaine Bell had been saving up money to go to Disney World, but Hurricane Dorian turned his thoughts to selfless pursuits.

ALLENDALE, SC — In the face of the incoming Hurricane Dorian, 6-year-old Jermaine Bell is giving fellow South Carolinians a reason to smile. The Allendale, South Carolina, native has been saving money to go on a trip to Disney World, but with the thought of helping others on his mind — Bell decided to use his money for something else.
He chose to use the cash to buy food and beverage for Hurricane Dorian evacuees, purchasing the items with the help of his family.
"The people that are traveling to places, I wanted them to have some food to eat, so they can enjoy the ride to the place that they're going to stay at," Bell told WJBF.

The incredibly articulate 6-year-old told WJBF that he's acting in accordance to his motto: "I want to be generous and live to give."
Bell set up shop along Highway 125 in Allendale with two handcrafted signs, and was able to feed close to 100 evacuees, according to WJBF.

More than 800,000 people are currently under evacuation orders in South Carolina, with Gov. Henry McMaster strongly urging residents to the Palmetto State to get out ahead of Dorian's high winds and life-threatening storm surges.
