Recommendation: Try this. After rinsing color out of clients hair, apply your color conditioner to the hair, distribute and leave on a few moments then rinse, shampoo if needed after the conditioning step, then follow with a second conditioner.
Water has pH of 7 and color chemicals are even higher. Shampoo can strip needed color deposit out of hair right at the bowl, with shampoos even if they are sulfate free it’s the pH you need to watch.
Why is this recommended: think about this. If the pH of conditioners is in the 3.5-4.5 range you are using the pH portion of the conditioner to close cuticle then when you shampoo the cuticle has already put it self into a closure range to the goal pH of 4.5-5.5
