The Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce and other area Chambers are offering members a chance to have their voices heard in our nation's capital.

Chamber members have a chance to attend the South Carolina and National Issues Forum in Washington, D.C. April 24-26.

Terry Garrison told fellow Chamber members about the trip at Thursday's Third Thursday Luncheon.

“For about the last 11 years, a group of Chamber members from Anderson, Oconee, Clemson have made a trip to try and straighten our Congressmen out. We've done a pretty good job of that,” Garrison said with a laugh.

The South Carolina and National Issues Forum offers business people, government officials, civic leaders, educators and concerned citizens an opportunity to meet with congressional leaders, network and gain insight into polices and issues that impact their communities back home.

Group members will have a chance to present local issues to their congressional leaders.

The trip costs $802 per person for a single occupancy room. If you're willing to share a room, the trip will cost $655.

The trip includes 2 nights stay, including all taxes, gratuities and a full breakfast each morning of the trip, a catered reception and dinner the first night of the trip, programs at the Library of Congress facilitated by Rep. Jeff Duncan's office, transportation to and from the meeting sites by private mini-bus and escort from Timeless Tours & Travel while in Washington.

“We'll spend two days with Jeff Duncan,” Garrison said. “Lindsey Graham will be us, Trey Gowdy will be with us and several other congressmen will come in and out throughout the day.”

The group will stay in Crystal City this year.

“Outside of the Beltway, the rooms are a little cheaper,” Garrison said. “We'll have a good view of the Pentagon and overlooking Washington, D.C.”

The trip was called off last year, Garrison said.

“The economy just hit us, and we backed off,” he said. “Hopefully we'll get a large group of people going again this year.”
