Corruption in the Easley Police Department

Corruption in Easley Police Department
Posted by Sam Seegers , December 23, 2013 at 05:03 PM
Attention: I suspect Easley Police Department, in Pickens County, SC to be corrupt. We are in the process of filing a complaint with SLED (http://www.sled.sc.gov/) and DOJ (http://www.justice.gov/). We have called and complained on several occasions regarding the feral cats destroying our private property. Easley Police Department Chief now refuses to accept any more of our complaints, and he hung up on me. I have audio recorded this conversation.

LET IT BE KNOWN, when filing a police report with Easley Police Department, they DO NOT have written guidelines as to legal documentation, and Officers are allowed to put their "opinion" in police reports, according to a recently audio recorded phone conversation with a Easley Police Department Lieutenant. We were only able to retrieve 6 of the many complaints we filed, and ALL complaints have false, opinionated, and missing information. Furthermore, we were unable to file a restraining order against our neighbor for aggressive behavior, because we did not have a police report that stated the incident. Now my family is at risk of assault, or worse, and the Easley Police Department has prevented us from taking the necessary precautions to protect my family by NOT DOCUMENTING ACCURATELY OR LEGALLY!!!

These police reports are what send people to jail! Officers are allowed to put in their opinion??? In my years of nursing school, writing anything on a patient's chart was critically scrutinized, as this patient's chart was considered a 'legal document'. It goes without saying police should be held to the same standards as the medical profession, perhaps more so. Please call the Easley Police Department and express your concerns regarding this matter http://www.easleypd.org/

Also, you will notice on their Facebook page, they do not allow freedom of expression. ANY comments that may appear negative or tarnish their reputation are removed. I made NO negative remarks on their page, however, they know who I am...therefore, all of my comments were removed (I guess they didn't like my comments under their multiple posts about "our" new cruisers :/): https://www.facebook.com/EasleyPoliceDepartment

If you have had any experiences with the Easley Police Department, or Pickens County Administration, that lead you to believe they are corrupt, please contact me immediately! My number is 828-644-3633 or email samanthajseegers@gmail.com. If I do not respond, I did not get your message!

It sounds to me like you have nothing else better to occupy your time than to harass your neighbors and complain about things the police have no control over. #1 It is animal control's job to have feral cats trapped and removed, that is not a police matter as there is no real owner. If you have such a problem with the cats, allow the CORRECT AGENCY to do their job. Any person with common sense could figure that out. #2 If an officer writes "in my opinion" on a report, it refers to their opinion as a qualified officer. #3 You are the problem, not your neighbor, so they need a restraining order against YOU for constantly harassing and calling the police on them over cats that they do not own. #4 A Facebook page belongs to the person who created it, and they have the right to remove comments at their discretion. "In my opinion", as a regular citizen, you need something more important to occupy your time. You should focus all your negative energy into something positive that will help society like volunteering. Karma will come back around to you in the end, you are making a name for yourself and it isn't a good one. People like you will never succeed at anything but making enemies.

Hi "anonymous",

I want to thank you for your concern regarding my post, and for devoting so much time to respond. I do find it interesting, however, that you chose to remain anonymous.

In response to your comment "It sounds to me like you have nothing else better to occupy your time than to harass your neighbors and complain about things the police have no control over":

Anonymous, my comment says nothing about me harassing my neighbors, it says our neighbors are harassing us. Also, if you do some research, you will find it IS, in fact, the Easley Police Department's responsibility to enforce animal ordinances, per our County Administrator, Mr. Hurst and Pickens County Animal Control's Mr. Green.

Regarding your comment "#1 It is animal control's job to have feral cats trapped and removed, that is not a police matter as there is no real owner.":

Anonymous, please refer to Pickens County Animal Ordinance, as well as Easley City Animal Ordinance, specifically under 'NUISANCE' and 'OWNER'. You will find that it is very easy to become the owner of feral cats when you feed, harbor, or act as their caretaker. If you can't find the link to the animal ordinances, please let me know. I will be happy to email it to you.

Regarding your comment "#2 If an officer writes "in my opinion" on a report, it refers to their opinion as a qualified officer.":

Anonymous, "in my opinion" will most likely not hold up in court, as I was taught in my 3 years as a nursing student, we were not allowed to write opinions on a patient's medical chart. Police officers should be held to the same standards as medical professionals. As for being a "qualified officer", we will leave that up to SLED and DOJ to decide.

Regarding your comment "You are the problem, not your neighbor, so they need a restraining order against YOU for constantly harassing and calling the police on them over cats that they do not own.":

Anonymous, I appreciate your concern for our neighbor, and I am sure they are intelligent enough to place a restraining order on us if they feel we are harassing them.  According to the Easley Police Department, we are not in violation of any laws. As far as "constantly harassing and calling the police on them over cats that they do not own", my comments above stated, "We were only able to retrieve 6 of the many complaints we filed, and ALL complaints have false, opinionated, and missing information. Furthermore, we were unable to file a restraining order against our neighbor for aggressive behavior, because we did not have a police report that stated the incident." Anonymous, who said we constantly call the police on them over cats?  What makes you think all my police reports are related to the cat situation? I never made that correlation, you did, and I'm not sure at this point how you know that private information.

Regarding your comment "#4 A Facebook page belongs to the person who created it, and they have the right to remove comments at their discretion.":

Anonymous, you are correct in this statement. Anyone has the right to remove comments at their discretion. I also have the right to post my opinion on here, so why do you seem so defensive and critical of my every statement in the post above, so much to the point you attack my character?

Regarding your comment ""In my opinion", as a regular citizen, you need something more important to occupy your time. You should focus all your negative energy into something positive that will help society like volunteering. Karma will come back around to you in the end, you are making a name for yourself and it isn't a good one. People like you will never succeed at anything but making enemies.":

Anonymous, I appreciate your concern regarding what I do with my time. However, I beg to differ. The time I have spent regarding the cat crisis in my neighborhood is being well spent. Our property has been destroyed due to cats defecating/urinating all over our property. Our garden and all landscaping has been destroyed by cats defecating/urinating in it. This has made our property unusable and unsellable. We are stuck with $104,750 loss because the neighbors just want to feed some cats...while attracting more for miles.

Anonymous, you might find it interesting to know that the cat feces in our yard have tested positive for intestinal worms. According to the CDC, these worms often go undiagnosed in humans, BUT can lead to intestinal obstruction, blindness, they can travel to the brain, cause stunted growth in children, and can lead to fatalities. I have three children that have played  in this infested yard for 3 years.

Anonymous, what does common sense tell you now? You might want to do a little more research before you comment next time, especially if you don't have all the facts. You are not me, and I assume you are not our neighbor. If you are neither of us, you are missing a great deal of information. As far as karma and 'making a name' for myself, I am who I am and I am very happy with who I am. Anyone who disapproves of me can take that up with God.

You are welcome to contact me directly at samanthajseegers@gmail.com or call me anytime (828) 644-3633, to discuss your concerns regarding this matter. Thanks so much, God bless.
