Joe Montana: Help Meals on Wheels
Football great Joe Montana urges everyone to do what they can to support the upcoming Food Fight Bowl and Pickens County Meals on Wheels

With the Food Fight Bowl coming up, I expect Sam Wyche will be sending me an E-mail telling me all about the outcome. It’s another big game with a lot on the line between Pickens and Easley High Schools.
But, there is a lot more on the line for Pickens County Meals on Wheels with students from each school trying to out fund raise their arch rival.
Dating back to September of 2008, the series is going into its sixth year, and the Blue Flame is holding a 4-0-1 record over the Green Wave in the fund raising; and a 3-2 edge over Easley in game results. That’s a surprising statistic considering how much larger a 4A Division town of Easley is over the 3A Division town of Pickens!!
I know both schools will compete hard on the field again this year. I pray that each team’s fans contributes like MVP‘s in the support of a “Super Bowl” quality charity like Pickens County Meals on Wheels. Odds are good: everyone is a winner!!
The San Francisco 49ers had a lot of rivals. Two special games come to mind when I try to pick my favorite ones.
Both were Super Bowl games and both were against the Cincinnati Bengals. What are the odds of that?
My first Super Bowl win and MVP Award came after the 1981 season. We beat Cincinnati 26-21, in the Pontiac Silverdome (Detroit). We had to recover an “onside kick” late in the game to seal the win!
The second memory was the 49er win over Cincinnati (again) at Joe Robbie Stadium in Miami following the 1988 season. Statistically, Cincinnati was the top rated team in the NFL that year, but we had the 89 yard drive at that ended with a “come from behind” touchdown pass to win: 20-16! What are
the odds of that?
Please make this year’s Food Fight Bowl the “odds on favorite” to raise a lot of much needed money for PCMOW!!!
