New Jersey Team Disqualified from Big League World Series

East forfeits today's game to Southeast

The team representing the East in the Big League World Series has been disqualified.

Tournament Director Jon Humphrey said the Cumberland County, New Jersey District 2 team was disqualified from the tournament for disciplinary reasons. 

“They will not participate in the remaining games,” Humphrey said.  “The entire team is being removed and is being sent back."

East was slated to play Southeast today. 

“That game has turned into a forfeit,” Humphrey said. “Southeast wins by a score of seven to zero.”

Humphrey said he could not go into detail about the incident that led to East’s removal. 

He said the team was in the process of “boarding the buses and heading back to New Jersey.”

East was 1-3 in the series, including the forfeit to Southeast. They fell to West 3-2 in the first day of tournament play. East lost to Central 3-2 on Thursday. East beat Southwest 7-2 on Friday.
