The Fine Arts Center of Easley Celebrates 2nd Anniversary

Fine Arts Center of Easley offering new classes.

The Fine Arts Center of Easley, located in historic West End Hall in downtown Easley, is celebrating two years in business by expanding and offering new classes.

Opened in September 2011, the arts education center originally offered a handful of private lessons, along with a few acting and art classes. As of this month, they have over 100 students taking private music lessons in voice and almost every instrument, a children's theatre program called YACE (Young Actors Company of Easley), and a varying rotation of art, music, acting and writing classes.

New classes being offered this fall are:  Little Music Time, a parent and child music class for infants and preschoolers up to age 5; Homeschool String Orchestra, designed to give homeschool students experience playing in an ensemble; and Afternoon Art with Alex, an arts and crafts class for ages 5-11 taught by Easley grad Alex Welborn.

One of the most exciting additions to the line-up at FACE is the launching of Easley's very own "Rock Academy".  Individuals who play guitar, drums, bass, keyboard or sing will be interested in signing up for one of 4 bands each month.  Any music style is possible, so if Rock is not your favorite, you can also choose Country, Christian, or Alternative.

Directed by master-drummer Russ Chapman, the Rock Academy at FACE will give individual players the experience of playing in a band.  New classes will begin in October so there is still time to register. Another new opportunity at FACE is the addition of Masterpiece in Minutes Painting Parties.

Whether its a child's birthday party, a girls night out, or a group of couples who just want to try something new, Masterpiece in Minutes instructor Marti Hartwig makes painting fun. Marti's philosophy is that, given the right instruction and a supportive environment, anyone can paint.  Marti is also available for private art lessons at FACE.

To accommodate all these new programs, the Fine Arts Center of Easley has doubled their space and now occupies the entire first floor of West End Hall.

"It's so exciting to see the interest in the Arts growing in Easley," commented Amanda Gunter, co-owner of FACE.  "We are blessed to have some of the best instructors in the Upstate and are excited to offer these new programs to our community."
