Officials say the nest was in a wooded area that was being logged. The state Department of Natural Resources also is investigating.
GOOSE CREEK, SC — Federal wildlife officials want to know who destroyed a bald eagle nest in Goose Creek and are hoping a $1,000 reward will help jog someone's memory.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is asking that anyone with information about last month's mayhem come forward. The nest was located in a wooded area that was being logged. The state Department of Natural Resources is also looking into the case.
Bald eagles are covered under the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act and are listed in South Carolina as a protected state threatened species. (For more local news, click here to sign up for real-time news alerts. If you have an iPhone, click here to get the free Patch iPhone app.)
