One student from each school in the Big South Conference will win a $500 Scholarship

Cary, N.C., Aug. 25, 2014 – Kangaroo Express, the leading independently operated convenience store chain in the southeastern United States, operated by The Pantry, Inc. (Nasdaq: PTRY), today announced a $500 scholarship contest for students attending schools in the Big South Conference, available exclusively within the Kangaroo Express mobile app.
To enter the contest, Big South students are invited to download the freeKangaroo Express mobile app and navigate to the “More” tab. The contest is open until February 1, 2015 and one lucky winner from each school will be randomly selected and announced at the Big South Basketball Championships March 4-9, 2015 at Coastal Carolina University.
“Supporting students in our own backyard through this unique scholarship program is just one way Kangaroo Express strives to empower the communities in which we serve,” said Gordon Schmidt, senior vice president of operations, Kangaroo Express. “Working with the Big South Conference this fall, we aim to reward and empower students across the Southeast working hard to pursue their degrees.”
Kangaroo Express is also surprising students with free ROO Cups and other great giveaways at Big South Back-To-School Tour events taking place in August and September. Time is running out to get 25-cent ROO Cup refills on fountain and frozen beverages at Kangaroo Express, and these events are some of the last opportunities for students to get their hands on the coveted cup. Follow Kangaroo Express on Twitter to find out where the tour is headed next.
Kangaroo Express has already shared 15,000 free ROO Cups with communities throughout the Southeast through initiatives such as “Hometown Heroes,” which honored local organizations, including firefighters, teachers, police officers and more, for their heroic contributions to their communities. As part of the Big South Back-To-School Tour, 2,500 ROO Cups will be donated to local higher education institutions to celebrate the start of the fall semester.
The Kangaroo Express mobile app allows users to access updated fuel prices, store locations, in-store promotions and more. Customers are able to send feedback from their mobile phones, review job postings and receive time-sensitive electronic mobile coupons.
