New Year, New Faces in Berkeley County School District
District welcomes its new school and district leaders.

Berkeley County School District’s 41 schools opened this Monday for the first day of school.
The following nine administrators are taking on new leadership roles.
DISTRICT ADMINISTRATOR:
Patricia Weeg, Director of Counseling Services

Weeg leaves her position as guidance director at Berkeley High School to fill the district’s director of counseling services position. She is originally from Bowie, Maryland and has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s in school counseling. Before joining the education field, she worked for four years with Resource Consultants as a career and transition counselor for the Army at Fort Drum. In 2001, her family relocated to South Carolina, and she was a counselor and guidance director in Charleston County schools. She has worked as the guidance director of Berkeley High School since 2009. Her husband is retired from the Army and now is a geologist. The couple has a daughter who is a second year law student at the University of South Carolina. In her free time, Weeg enjoys spending time with her family, kayaking, and gardening. She shares that she is, “…most excited about advocating for the students and counselors at the district office.”

Dr. Creighton Eddings, Sedgefield Intermediate
Originally from Camden, Eddings completed a bachelor’s degree at Clemson University, two master’s degrees at The Citadel, and a doctorate in educational administration at the University of South Carolina. He brings ten years of experience in education including work at Devon Forest Elementary for five years and three years as assistant principal at Daniel Island School. He is married with two children and enjoys kayaking and golfing. Dr. Eddings hopes to foster a sense of community and invite the families of Sedgefield Intermediate to be active participants in the educational process. His vision is to develop a true community school and also work collaboratively with Sedgefield Middle and Goose Creek High schools to ensure that students are prepared and on track for graduation.
Heather Taylor, Stratford High
Taylor is no stranger to Stratford High, where she has served as an assistant principal for the past five years. The native of Bolivar, Pennsylvania earned a bachelor’s degree from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She earned two master’s degrees from The Citadel and brings 20 years of experience in education. She and her husband James have two children. She enjoys golfing, going to the beach, and spending time with her family. When asked about her new position, Taylor states, “The staff at Stratford is exceptional. I look forward to being the new instructional leader and following the legacy of continuous academic growth as demonstrated by the previous principals.”
ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS:
Tiffany Brown, Cane Bay High
Brown brings a strong background in the sciences, with a bachelor’s degree in biology from Tennessee State University and eight years as a high school science teacher. She is from Ridgeville and received her master’s from The Citadel. Her teaching experience includes the past five years at Cane Bay High. She states, “I am most excited about the opportunities for professional growth as I transition from teacher to assistant principal, building upon current relationships in a new capacity, and sharing my talents to enhance the academic success of our students.”
Keturah Gadson, Berkeley High
Gadson is from St. Stephen and received her bachelor’s degree from Claflin University and a master’s degree from Charleston Southern University. She served as an English teacher at Hanahan High for five years and an accountability/graduation specialist for an additional year. Gadson enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. As an alumnus of Berkeley County public schools, she is very excited about her new role. She shares, “I have lived in Berkeley County all of my life so I am deeply invested in this community. I am most excited about working with teachers and students to help all students experience a measure of success!”
Nate Spitulski, Goose Creek High
Originally from Toledo, Ohio, Spitulski earned a bachelor’s degree from Defiance College where he played football. He received a master’s degree from Bowling Green State University and taught special education for three years before serving as a high school administrator in Ohio for nine years. Since moving to Berkeley County, he has served as a special education teacher at Cane Bay High. He expresses that he is, “…most excited to get to know the teachers, the area, and the community...” of Goose Creek High. He looks forward to watching students as they grow into confident seniors ready to lead and take on new challenges. His wife is also an educator, and the couple has a 4-year-old daughter and is currently expecting twins. His hobbies include working out and watching movies including his favorites—the Star Wars films and The Lord of the Ring series.
Glenda Ward, Hanahan Elementary
Ward, her husband of 32 years, and their two children all attended Hanahan public schools. She states, “The teachers, administrators, and support staff of our area schools have always been very helpful and encouraging. I consider it a great honor to be a part of the administrative staff of Hanahan Elementary School and look forward to serving the families of this wonderful place I call home.” Ward’s 25 years of education experience has included teaching at the elementary and middle school levels as well as assuming the roles of instructional coach and Title I facilitator. She fills her free time with gardening, reading, interior design, and playing games and spending time with family.
Jayma Wells, Stratford High
Wells is from Salem, Ohio. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Ohio University and a master ’s degree from Charleston Southern University. Wells taught science at Berkeley High School for seven years. She enjoys running, fishing, and spending time at the beach. She states that, “I am most excited to be part of the Stratford family. It’s an honor, and I feel very privileged to work with such a phenomenal staff and student body.”
Michael White, Cross High
White earned a bachelor’s degree from Frances Marion University and a master’s degree from Liberty University. He is originally from Lake City, South Carolina and taught at South Florence High School for three years before moving to the tricounty area, where he was a teacher at Cane Bay High School for two and a half years. Most recently, he served as the assistant principal at Allendale-Fairfax High School. White enjoys playing the piano, reading, watching movies and trying new foods. He is currently enrolled in a doctoral program at Ball State University.
