Polls for Democratic Runoff for S.C. Senate 42 Open Tuesday
Race is between Maurice Washington and Marlon Kimpson.

Polls open 7 a.m. Tuesday to decide who will be the Democratic nominee in the S.C. Senate 42 special election to replace Sen. Robert Ford.
The race is between Marlon Kimpson and Maurice Washington. Kimpson failed to secure more than 50 percent of the vote during the Aug. 12 primary, but held the most votes among all the candidates, including Washington.
Many insiders have claimed Washington is not a true Democrat, and Washington acknowledged his uphill climb during his Aug. 12 victory speech, saying he has to defeat the Democratic machine.
