Spotless And Blameless In Peace (Oh My)

2 Peter 3:8,9,10,13,14-18

But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.  But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless.  But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity.

God doesn’t just “say” things to be mean or make your life tricky. He gives you these great strategies because He loves you and if you do things His way, everything will be better for you. The added benefit for the world is that if you are, in fact doing things God’s way, you will be more compassionate and make wiser decisions which will ultimately benefit others as well.  That is why God tells you to make sure that your life is spotless, blameless and to the best of your ability, be at peace with everyone. That’s what He wants for you.  And if you really kept those three words in the forefront of your mind, it would affect your relationships in a very positive way.  Before you would speak, if you asked yourself if the words you were about to say would create peace or make for bad feelings, you might not say those particular words.  God wants you to grow in His words and in His ways.  And as a result, you will be calmer and be better able to minister, comfort and guide the people whom He has placed in your world.  And that’s how you make God really happy.
