A worker was dragging a trash bag across the La Parilla parking lot when it ripped. A baby boy inside it later died at a hospital.
GREENVILLE, SC — A restaurant worker in South Carolina found a baby inside a trash bag when it ripped open and now a 19-year-old woman is facing charges.
The employee was dragging the trash across the La Parilla parking lot on July 12 when the bag tore. Authorities were called and the baby boy was declared dead at a hospital.
The baby's mother, Estela Ruiz-Gomez, is charged with homicide by child abuse, Greenville Police spokesman Johnathan Bragg said. She gave birth in the restaurant bathroom.(For more local news, click here to sign up for real-time news alerts. If you have an iPhone, click here to get the free Patch iPhone app.)

Her 41-year-old mother, Lorenza Rodriguez, faces charges of helping her daughter get rid of the baby, authorities said.
The child would probably have survived if he wasn't put in the trash, the coroner said.
