Core 450 at Cherokee Valley on Pace to Open This Fall
Contemporary Casual Dining Experience Anchoring New Clubhouse to Offer Chef-Driven Menu, Family Friendly Dining and Stunning Views
For Upstate golfers, foodies, or those simply in search of a family-friendly dining experience with views that kill, the wait is almost over.
Core 450, the contemporary casual restaurant and centerpiece of the stunning new mountain-style clubhouse at Cherokee Valley Course and Club, is on pace to open this fall. Led by Executive Chef Todd Warden, previously with The Cliffs Communities, it will feature a diverse-yet-approachable menu ranging from small plates and pizza to five course meals.
“Since we acquired Cherokee Valley in 2017 our vision has been to bring the community an inviting, entertaining and enjoyable dining experience unlike any other in the area,” says Owner Matt Jennings. “We believe the combination of Core 450, our P.B. Dye-designed golf course, world-class practice range and onsite cottages for stay-and-plays make us one of the Upstate’s premier golf destinations.”

Warden, who studied under James Beard award-winning chef Bob Kinkead, has lead Cherokee Valley’s culinary operations over the past two years. A fixture around the club who enjoys golf almost as much as he enjoys food, he has cooked for Julia Childs, Thomas Keller, former U. S, Presidents and numerous movie stars.
“We are partnering with local farms [for meats and produce], breweries, wineries and even artists and other purveyors to really create a sense of place,” Warden says. “Through the Event Center grill, special events and our take-and-bake dinners, we’ve provided members and guests with a preview of what’s in store at Core 450. But we’re all excited to take it to the next level this fall.”

Core 450 will dazzle diners with expansive views of the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountain foothills. Architecturally, its Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired roof lines evoke memories of a classic mountain retreat, featuring large windows, finely appointed accents and casual comfort. A spacious outdoor patio will offer ample tables and lounging areas for enjoying dinner or drinks with friends.
While the restaurant occupies the clubhouse’s main floor, the bottom level will house “The Shop,” a new golf check-in and retail experience showcasing apparel from local companies like Southern Tide and KENTWOOL, major golf equipment brands and a “Craft Beer Cooler” containing an array of properly chilled ales and lagers.
