Lost Dog Rings Doorbell At 3 A.M. To Let Owners Know She's Home

GREENVILLE, SC — Mary Lynn Whitacre and her husband, Ryan were understandably startled when their doorbell rang at 3 a.m. earlier this week.

They were sleeping, exhausted from looking for their beloved dog, Rajah, after she ran away seven hours earlier. Rajah got spooked out by fireworks that rang out in their Greenville neighborhood.

When they answered the door, there was Rajah.

Yes, apparently dogs know how to ring doorbells.

Did someone return Rajah to the front porch, ring the bell and then leave?

No. The doorbell cam shared by Southwest News Service shows it was clearly the 18-month-old pup.

The young dog is such a fast runner, Whitacre told Fox News, she and her husband had no idea where Rajah could have ended up.

"Ryan and I were freaking out, and we felt really helpless," she said. "It was the longest seven hours of my life."

She said Rajah appeared to feel like she did something wrong, and was in trouble for leaving.

"She was sad and sulking, but we were like, ‘we’re just happy you’re back,’” Whitacre said.
