Meals on Wheels of Greenville Receives $7,500 Donation

Spectrum representatives presented a donation of $7,500 to Meals on Wheels of Greenville, as part of the company’s community philanthropic program, Spectrum Employee Community Grants. The funding will provide 1,000 meals for homebound and elderly clients. Each meal delivered represents not only the recommended daily nutrition requirements for each client, but also a respite from the isolation and loneliness they often feel, improving their quality of life.

Representatives from Spectrum presented the $7,500 check to Meals on Wheels of Greenville Executive Director, Catriona Carlisle, and Director of Volunteer Services Coordinator, Leslie Larue, as cars lined up to pick up bags of warm meals to deliver to those in need.

Introduced in 2019, Spectrum Employee Community Grants provided funding in its first year to 140 local nonprofits in 24 states throughout the company’s service area. Recipients deliver critical social services, helping underserved residents meet basic needs, including food, shelter, clothing, job training and neighborhood safety. Each awardee is nominated by one of the company’s 95,000 U.S. employees who has volunteered with the organization for at least one year.

Meals on Wheels of Greenville was nominated by Aly Haley, Local Sales Manager for Spectrum Reach. “Delivering meals to those who need them most demonstrates our commitment to serve our local community,” said Haley. “It’s a wonderful feeling to give someone a meal and a smile.”
