5 Ways to Donate School Supplies in Irmo

Help students start the school year off right by donating school supplies to these local charities and groups.

It's almost time for school to start, but some students don't have the supplies they need.

Here are five ways you can donate school supplies to help local students start the year off right: 

1. Bring School Supplies to the Irmo Shred Day

Shred 360 is holding a Shred Day and School Supply Drive at the UPS Store at 7001 St. Andrews Rd. from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday. See the list of requested school supplies.

2. Donate to the Remembering Brandon LaVar Byrd School Supply Drive

School supplies will be donated to Seven Oaks Elementary School in honor of Brandon LaVar Byrd, who was killed in a car crash when he was 20 years old. To donate, call 803-422-6179 or e-mail rememberingbrandon@yahoo.com.

3. Donate School Supplies, Help Irmo Girl Scouts

Girl Girl Scout Troop 2374 of Irmo is collecting school supplies for the Oak Pointe Elementary School special education class in order to earn their Silver Award. See the list of requested school supplies here.

4. Help Sharing God's Love Collect School Supplies

Sharing God's Love, a nonprofit in the Irmo area, is collecting school supplies, including 1- 2- and 3-inch binders, red pens, wide and college-ruled paper, markers, index cards, highlighters, colored pencils, two-pocket folders with and without prongs, glue sticks, big pink erasers, wide-ruled black and white composition books. Supplies can be dropped off at Sharing God's Love at 147 Friarsgate Boulevard. 

5. Give School Supplies to the Department of Juvenile Justice
