Authorities Identify Remains of Body Found at Lake Murray

The remains of a body found at the Lake Murray spillway in 2010 has been identified, the Lexington County Coroner's Office announced Monday afternoon.

A comparison of dental X-rays and dental records determined that the remains were those of 38-year-old Daniel James Swindler of Bountiful, Utah, according to the coroner's office.

Swindler’s sister contacted both the coroner's office and the Lexington County Sheriff's Department when she recognized the backpack, belt and forensic facial reconstruction posted on the State Law Enforcement Division Unidentified Remains link, according to a coroner's office release.

The remains were found at the Lake Murray spillway on Oct. 20, 2010.
