Dutch Fork Tops Dorman, 46-43

The Lady Foxes have won another state championship!

COLUMBIA — Dutch Fork High's girls basketball team are back to back state champions with their win over Dorman Friday night at the Colonial Life Arena.

The top ranked Lady Foxes defeated the Cavaliers 46-43, to claim the Class 4A state title.

"I’m just happy for them that they finished it out well," Coach Faye Norris said. "I wanted it for them so bad."

For the first few minutes of the game, the two squads were within one or two points each other before Dutch Fork took the lead. 

The first quarter was plagued with turnovers and missed shots but by halftime, Dutch Fork was leading 25-19.

The second half was proving to be a test for the Silver Foxes. The Cavaliers were able to cut Dutch Fork's lead and eventually take over. 

At the end of the third quarter Dutch Fork was down by two points with the score standing at 38-36.

The Silver Foxes came back in the fourth to take the lead and held them off with two free throws from senior Rose Robinson. 

Dutch Fork finished the season, undefeated, with a record of 29-0. The team is rankedNo. 7 in the nation. 

Sophomore Morgan Williams had 18 points. McDonald's All-American and University of South Carolina signee Alaina Coates had 10 points.
